About Me
I’m currently a Year 10 student at John Curtin College of the Arts, and I’m proud to be part of the Drama Gifted and Talented program. Performing has taught me confidence, creativity and teamwork, which I believe are really important qualities for a student councillor.
Outside of class, I have served as the Manager of Marketing and Growth for John Curtin’s award-winning Subs in Schools team — AquaTech over the last two years. This role has pushed me to be organised, reliable, and to represent our school with pride in competitions.
This year I’ve already championed a few successful initiatives around the college. For example, I secured a five-day extension on Test 4 in Maths for all Year 10 students by raising with the relevant staff members that the original assessment date didn’t follow the college’s Assessment Policy (Section 1.2 – Assessment Scheduling), which says students shouldn’t have to sit more than two assessments in one day.
For me, it wasn’t just about getting extra time. It was about making sure every student had the chance to be properly prepared and not burned out by unfair scheduling. I believe when we’re given a fair go, we can do our best work, and that’s the kind of student voice I want to keep bringing to council.
Above all, I am committed to living the college values of curiosity, courage, and connection, and carrying forward the COTA priorities of kindness, growth and cognition. These aren’t just words to me, they’re qualities I try to show every day in class, in projects, and in how I treat others.
I’m running for Student Council because I want to make a genuine difference for our year group as we head into Year 11.
I want to:
Create more enjoyable and memorable experiences for us as Year 11 students.
Make sure our voices are actually listened to, and our ideas are valued.
Help bring in positive changes that reflect what students want—not just what looks good on paper.
I don’t just want to be a student councillor for the badge, I want to be someone who’s approachable, easy to talk to, and who will actually follow up when you raise an idea or concern.
Why i’m running
What I aim to get done
I don’t just want to sit in a position and say I’m on the student council. I actually want to make a difference for our cohort. That means keeping everyone updated, making school life more enjoyable, and making sure your ideas don’t just get ignored.
Keeping everyone in the loop: I’ve set up this website on a two-year plan, and I’ll be using it along with socials to post updates on what Student Council is working on. This shows I’m serious about communication and committed to keeping you in the know, not just handing out empty promises.
More fun, more memories: Year 11 should be about more than just study. I want to work on making our experiences more enjoyable—things like events, small activities, and opportunities where we can actually come together as a cohort and enjoy being at school.
Listening and acting: I’ll make sure there are easy ways to share your ideas and feedback, and I’ll follow up on them. Whether it’s a new idea for events, or small day-to-day improvements, I’ll do my best to make sure they’re heard and acted on.
Working with staff: I want to make sure teachers and the college executive team hear what we value as a year group, so our ideas and opinions are considered when decisions are made.
At the end of the day, I want our year to feel connected, supported, and like we’re actually getting something out of having a Student Council.
