About Me
Hi, I’m Matt. I’m currently a Year 11 student at John Curtin College of the Arts, and I’m proud to be part of the Drama Gifted and Talented program.
I’m running for the Year 12 Student Council because I want to represent our cohort honestly as we enter our final year, making meaningful changes that benefit both students and College staff whilst ensuring every student's voice is heard.
As a STEM Student Leader, I have promoted STEM opportunities across the College, represented JCCA at hackathons and industry events, helped manage our Subs in Schools team, and encouraged younger students to explore future pathways. These experiences strengthened my leadership, organisation and communication skills, while allowing me to work with a wide range of students, staff and the wider community to achieve shared goals. This is something I am committed to bringing to the Student Council.

Drama Program
Since joining the college at the start of Year 7, I have proudly represented the college as a part of the Gifted and Talented Drama Program. Since 2022, I have took part in products such as Nanga Warloo - exploring First Nations Culture, London Assurance - as Lawyer Mark Meddle, The Trial as a part of the 2025 Guest Director Season and most recently I am preparing for the 2026 Season of Guest Director playing this August. The show I have been cast in - Directed by Oliver Hughes, a College Alumni who works in the industry, plays on the 19th and 21st of August in Ellen St Theatre. Make sure to come along and support myself and other Year 11s who are in our amazing Drama Program.

Extracurriculars
Across my time at the college, I have been lucky enough to take part and engage with a lot of extracurriculars on offer.
I have acted as an “Oragniser/Captain” for multiple fundraising sausage sizzles internally and externally of the college to raise vital funds for STEM initiatives and The Technologies Department. These three sausage sizzles hosted at Bunnings Melville and The College raised a combined $7000 towards educational initiatives at the college. Allowing students to access important educational tools.
I have also been lucky enough to take part in Project Management Workshops with Industry Professionals. Such as Stephen Blakemore from Oceaneering who led a session which provided great insight on Leadership Roles and Managing Projects in a real-world context.
Recently, I have joined the Model United Nations club ran by Mr. Hardy and Pax, a Yr 8 Student Councillor as the UAE. This has been a fun opportunity to network with the younger students in this club as well as engage in fun debates.
